Wendy's Fan Page:Wendy's Products

Status Change:  Unfortunately due to the strong decline in quality at my local, and other nearby Wendy's restaurants, I can no longer unequivocally say that Wendy's is the best fast food restaurant out there.  In n' Out Burgers, Burger King, and Carl 's Junior have been offering superior food to me for the last few years or so.   Wendy's burgers have become noticeably smaller, and are certainly no longer plump and juicy.  The Frosties, while remaining $.99, have seemed to decrease in size by at least 25%.  I'll leave my Wendy's page up for now in hopes that someone at Wendy's will realize the importance of bringing back their 'juicy burgers', and the former size of their Frosties.

Here is a recent negative review of the current state of Wendy's that I posted on Epinions.

My original, more positive, Wendy's page lies below:

There aren't enough web pages out there dedicated to the true 'Elixir of the Gods', Wendy's.

Well this is hopefully neither the first, nor the last....

Lets all show some support for Dave Thomas. He did recently have a coronary you know!

Here are some famous Wendy's fans: Steven Spielberg, Winona Ryder, & More.

Wendy's Update: (Finally some new news to post on this page!)

A&E Biography has seen fit to do an episode on Dave Thomas. I missed it the first time around, but thanks to an astute co-worker (Thanks Ari), I watched it, and learned a few new things about the man. I hadn't known that Dave started as a Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise owner (he owned 4, and was the Colonel's right hand man for many years). I also hadn't known that his own personal favorite burger has only Mustard, Pickles & Onions. And he loves his own Frostys. I also hadn't known that Dave Thomas had the very first drive-through window. I was also really impressed when it was explained that he is the only CEO of a major food franchise that has actually worked in a kitchen, and it was interesting seeing him train employees in the art of making a burger 'hands-on'. He explained that the first and last bite of a burger are the most important, so it is important to put on plenty of condiments. It doesn't share too many other trade secrets, but an interesting biography that I recommend watching if you can catch it.

Bad news! in December of 1998, my beloved 1/4 lb Single went up in price at my local Wendy's to $1.99 from $1.89.

(August, 98) Coke has added Wendy's to its war chest. Wendy's International named Coca-Cola its exclusive soft drink supplier yesterday for the next decade. The fountain business (supplying soft-drink syrup to restaurants, stadiums and hospitals) is regarded as the most lucrative sector of the soft-drink world.

Here's Wendy's Own Home Page

You can check out their newest menu items, try your hand at their contests, see a timeline of Wendy's events, see a timeline of Dave Thomas, and see samples of their award winning advertisements.

Wendy's first opened up in 1969, just less than a year after yours truly was born. Some might feel that this is a very good sign that Wendy's was designed just for me! Maybe that's true, but I think it's so special that all people should enjoy it. Fortunately Dave Thomas feels that way too!

Wendy's has also been known as having some of the greatest commercials of our time. I believe only Pepsi has been nominated for more Clio Awards. Who can forget "Where's the Beef"? Actually looking back on it, I feel pretty stupid for laughing for so long and so hard at it, when I still don't understand what made it funny. According to their web page, this ad won 3 seperate CLIO awards (their first was for their Hot & Juicy campaign).

Dave Thomas

Quote from the Wendy's page:

"While working for KFC, Thomas remained drawn to hamburgers. Although experts said America didn't need another hamburger restaurant, Dave opened the first Wendy's Old Fashioned Hamburgers restaurant on November 15, 1969, in Columbus. He named the restaurant after his eight-year-old daughter Melinda Lou, nicknamed 'Wendy' by her older brother and sisters."
